The following datasets have previously appeared in either the CIS Social Accountability Report or the Co-operative Bank Partnership Report, and following review are amended and ‘restated’ in the 2003 Sustainability Report.
Energy
Energy consumption and all resultant emissions have been restated for CIS for 2002 on the basis of an:
- improved understanding of consumption (previously thought to be 34GWh, now 31.3 GWh); and
- improved CO2 conversion factor for CHP emissions from CHP due to the use of a more accurate conversion factor. The conversion factor previously used included the emissions associated with heat generation in addition to those associated with electricity generation (previously thought to be 11,121 now 8,281 tonnes).

Water
Water consumption for CIS in 2002 has been restated (previously 44,123 m3, now 75,318,000 litres). The 2002 Social Accountability Report accounted for water consumption at Miller Street, Manchester only. The 2003 Sustainability Report accounts for CIS’ 2002 and 2003 water consumption for premises covering 85% of staff.

Transport
- Carbon dioxide emissions from air travel have been restated for CIS due to the use of improved conversion factors; now accounting for the difference in CO2 emissions per mile for long and short haul air travel. (CIS 2000- previously 249, now 201, CIS 2001- previously 254, now 205, CIS 2002- previously 138, now 178). The 2002 figure was also incorrect due to a typographical error in the CIS 2002 Social Accountability Report.
- The bank’s car hire mileage for 2002 has been restated (previously 737, now 598). The external data provider had incorrectly included data from a different co-operative business in their report for the bank.

Biodiversity
The figures stated for land occupied by the bank have changed for 2000, 2001 and 2002 due to the retrospective inclusion of car parking space. This amounts to an additional 2.2 hectares in the bank’s land footprint.
