The Co-operative Group
The Co-operative Group is a family of businesses that share the same co-operative way of doing things. That means offering an excellent service to their customers, selling their products in a fair and honest way, and being committed to supporting communities on their doorstep and beyond.
The core objective of The Co-operative Group is to optimise profits from businesses where their co-operative values give them a positive marketing advantage, allowing them to serve their members and to deliver their social goals as a successful co-operative, while making a reasonable financial return to their member-owners, both corporate and individual.
The Co-operative Group board completed its merger with United Co-operatives on 29 July 2007. The enlarged Society is the largest consumer co-operative in the world with an annual turnover of more than £9 billion, over 4,500 stores and branches, 87,000 employees and 4.5 million members.
